Day 2 of Auto Expo 2023: All previews and presentations here

The second day of Auto Expo  few automakers have introduced new vehicles. However, the country’s largest photovoltaic cells maker, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), caught the eye, unveiling two long-awaited SUVs: the Fronx (YTB Baleno Cross) and the five-door Jimny. Other automakers unveiling several new vehicles on day two included British automaker MG, Tata Motors and Japanese luxury automaker Lexus.

Maruti Suzuki

Fronx

First, on the second day of the fair, Maruti Suzuki presented the eagerly awaited premium crossover SUV Fronx.Fronx has finally come out after several months of talks and it was exactly as expected. Maruti Suzuki has introduced a small Grand Vitara based on the HEARTECT platform of the Baleno sedan.

The Fronx is heavily inspired by the mid-size Grand Vitara on the outside and looks almost identical to the Baleno on the inside. It has a unique streamlined design. In terms of propulsion, it gets a 1hp turbo petrol engine.0 liters, offered for the first time with the now discontinued Baleno RS. At 5,500 rpm, this engine develops a maximum power of 100 hp and a maximum torque of 147.6 Nm. However, it is also available with the optional 1.2 K series engine, which has a maximum power of 89.73 hp and a maximum torque of 113 Nm.

Five-door Jimny

Next in the Maruti Suzuki lineup was the five-door Jimny, similar to the Frond. He, too, was the subject of many discussions and made his first official public appearance yesterday. This extremely capable 4×4 was introduced as a distraction from Mahindra’s hugely popular 4×4, the Thar.Suzuki AllGrip Pro, a unique 4×4 system developed by Maruti Suzuki,is standard on the new five-door Jimny Ego.

The new AllGrip Pro has 4L, a low-end four-wheel drive transfer case, 2H and 4H on the fly. The five-door Jimny is powered by MSIL’s K15C Dualjet 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 134.2 Nm of maximum torque and 104.Maximum power of 8 hp supported by a mild hybrid system. Standard transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter.

Wagon R Flex-Fuel

This Wagon R Flex-Fuel can go unnoticed a lot of people during the Auto Expo, but it was definitely there. The prototype vehicle was first presented in December 2022 at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) Technology Expo. The model was developed locally by Marutiengineers with support from Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corporation.It can run on petrol containing a combination of ethanol and petrol from 20% (E20) to 85% (E85).

Tata Motors

Harrier and Safari Red EditionIt’s

It’s no surprise that Tata Motors has unveiled the next edition of its SUV sibling, the Harrier and Safari . New and updated Red Edition models get long-awaited ADAS features along with an all-new 10.25-inch infotainment system and a fully digital instrument cluster. As part of the update, the new Red Edition SUVs also received all-new carnelian quilted seat covers, red leatherettedoor handles, gray dashboard trim and piano black detailing on the steering wheel.

Like all previous ones New Editions, the Red Edition models have not been changed mechanically and are still powered by the same diesel engine.

The same 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine with a maximum of 170hp and 350Nm of peak torque offered with a 6-speed manual or optional 6-speed automatic can be seen under the bonnet of both the Harrier and Safari being.

Lexus

LX 500d

At Auto Expo 2023, Lexus, the luxury division of Japanese automaker Toyota, presented the new LX 500d just one Day after the debut of Toyota’s top-of-the-line LC300 Land Cruiser. In India, justproduction slots have been reserved for the 500d version of the luxury SUV making its way into the country. According to the company, the first batch of fourth-generation devices has already sold out.

A 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 diesel engine with 304 hp and 700 Nm of torque will power the Lexus LX 500d. It’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. Prices for the 2023 Lexus LX 500d start at Rs. 2.82 Crores (Formerly Showroom, India).

MG Motor India

Euniq 7

Continuation of Showcase series for other vehicles with alternatives Fuels MG unveiled the Euniq 7 luxury minivan at Auto Expo 2023. The Euniq 7 was the world’s first minivan to use a hydrogen fuel cell when it was unveiled to the world in 2020. It is marketed as the Maxus Fuel Cell Mafi Van in foreign markets.

Although MG has withheld information about the specifications, the Euniq 7.hydrogen fuel cell engine has a maximum output of 201 hp in international markets.

The Euniq 7’s 6.4kg hydrogen tank recharges quickly and MG claims the minivan has a range of up to 605km.
