“Revving Up the Future: Top 6 Electric Two-Wheeler Launches of 2023”

2023 has been a landmark year for electric two-wheelers in India. From high-performance motorcycles to budget-friendly scooters, there’s been something for everyone. Buckle up as we take a spin through the top 6 electric two-wheeler launches that grabbed headlines and hearts this year:

1. TVS X: The Premium Pioneer

TVS made a grand entrance into the premium electric scooter segment with the X, launched in August. This head-turner, based on the futuristic Creon concept, boasts a price tag of Rs 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom) and is currently the most expensive scooter made in India. While deliveries were expected to begin in November, the wait continues.

Powered by a potent 11kW electric motor and a 4.44 kWh battery pack, the X zips to a top speed of 105 kmph and conquers 0-40 kmph in a mere 2.6 seconds. The official range figure is yet to be revealed, but one can expect exhilarating rides on a single charge.

2. Orxa Mantis: The Long-Range Predator

Remember the stunning Mantis concept that stole the show at India Bike Week 2019? Well, it’s no longer a dream! Orxa Energies brought the production-spec Mantis to life in November, and it’s ready to devour the miles. Priced at Rs 3.60 lakh (ex-showroom), the Mantis packs a punch with its 8.9kWh battery that promises a staggering 221 km range on a single charge (IDC).

This beastly machine can catapult from 0-100 kmph in just 8.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 135 kmph. Feeling the need for speed? Plug it into a 3.3kW fast charger, and it’ll refuel from 0 to 80% in just 2.5 hours.

3. Ola S1 X: The Value-Packed Thrill Seekr**

Ola Electric democratized electric mobility with the S1 X, launched earlier this year at a tempting Rs 89,999 (ex-showroom, including FAME II subsidy). This pocket rocket comes in two flavors: a 2 kWh battery with an 85 km range and a 3 kWh battery that stretches to 90 km on a single charge.

The S1 X boasts a hub-mounted motor that propels the base variant from 0 to 40 kmph in 4.1 seconds, while the higher-spec versions slash that time to a neck-snapping 3.3 seconds. Hold on tight, because this budget-friendly thrill seeker is all about adrenaline rushes.

4. Oben Rorr: The Torquey Tornado

Oben Rorr made waves last year with its unveiling, and the wait was finally over in July when it roared onto the scene in an upgraded avatar, priced at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This electric motorcycle is a force to be reckoned with, packing an 8.8kW PMS motor that churns out a monstrous 330 Nm of peak torque.

Feel the G-force as it catapults from 0 to 40 kmph in just 3 seconds and maxes out at 100 kmph. The 4.4 kWh battery offers a claimed IDC range of 187 km, so you can explore further and faster on every ride.

5. Kinetic Zulu: The Rugged Commuter

Kinetic Green, the EV arm of the iconic Kinetic brand, entered the electric scooter game with the Zulu earlier this month. This practical and stylish commuter starts at an attractive Rs 94,990 (ex-showroom, Mumbai, inclusive of FAME II) for the standard battery pack. A variant with an oil-cooled battery is also on the horizon.

The Zulu promises a comfortable and confident ride, making it ideal for zipping through city streets.

6. Simple Dot One: The Minimalist Marvel

Bengaluru-based Simple Energies unveiled the Dot One in December, proving that good things come in small packages. This entry-level scooter packs a punch at Rs 1.0 lakh (ex-showroom). Don’t let.
