Global Reveal and Powerhouse Performance
Introduced to the world at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, the BAIC BJ60 is the newest addition to the Chinese automaker’s lineup of off-road SUVs. Under its robust hood lies a potent 2.0-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder petrol engine, unleashing 248bhp and a peak torque of 400Nm. Adding to its prowess, an integrated starter generator mild-hybrid system provides an extra boost of 13.4bhp and 50Nm when demanded.
The powertrain seamlessly collaborates with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, channeling energy to all four wheels through a versatile all-wheel-drive system. Easily switchable between 2H, 4H, and 4L modes using a dial on the center console, the BJ60 boasts three differential locks, ensuring mastery over challenging terrains.

Innovative Design and Robust Build
Constructed with a body-on-frame setup, the BJ60 combines double wishbone independent suspension at the front and a multi-link independent setup at the rear. Ventilated discs on all four wheels handle braking duties, although specific rotor sizes remain undisclosed.
Rolling on standard 18-inch wheels equipped with 265/65 R18-HT all-terrain tires, the BJ60 offers an option for larger 20-inch wheels paired with 275/50 R20-HT all-terrain tires, all from the Cooper Tire Discoverer ATS range. This off-road beast stands at an impressive 5,040mm length, 1,955mm width, and 1,925mm height, with a substantial wheelbase of 2,820mm and a ground clearance of 215mm. It fearlessly wades into waters up to 750mm deep.

Bold Aesthetics and Luxurious Interior
True to its off-road SUV identity, the BAIC BJ60 features a distinct boxy design. The front is dominated by an illuminated 5-square grille, accentuated by LED headlights. Chrome embellishments on the windows and flared wheel arches add a touch of opulence, while the rear showcases LED taillights and a roof-mounted spoiler element.
Stepping inside the BJ60 reveals a harmonious blend of luxury and technology. The dashboard hosts two screens, a 10.25-inch driver’s display, and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. Owners can choose between 5 or 7-seater configurations, accompanied by a lavish sunroof, 256-color ambient lighting, a premium 12-speaker audio setup with an external amp, and heated, ventilated seats featuring a massage function.
