NOX Epium builds the lightweight Fazua 60 powered carbon eMTB entirely in Europe

The new NOX Epium eMTB tries to reshape preconceived notions with a roughly lightweight carbon body, all-mountain compatible enduro suspension, and a light and compact Fazua powertrain with efficient, albeit clean pedal-assistance. In addition, the Epium body and ebike equipment are completely manufactured in Europe.

NOX Epium lightweight carbon eMTB

The new carbon Apium lightweight eMTB comes from Nox Cycles. Pairing a light-weight, flexible 2700g carbon body to the lightest ebike powertrain on the market, the Epium claims to redefine what an e-mountain bike wants to feel like – an extra herbal feel when climbing or bombing the trail – plus the variety delivered to power you for longer rides.

Nox describes the all-new Epium as a modern eMTB for long-distance mountain excursions and bikepark days that enhance the pre-elevation days.

Technical details

The coronary heart of the all-new Nox Epium is a full carbon monocoque body that weighs 2.7kg and has clearance for 2.8″ tires. It’s Nox’s lightest body and is said to have better stabilisation of stiffness with just a fraction of flex for the “ultimate grass driving feel”.

The eMTB gets a brand new high-pivot Horst-Hyperlink 4-bar suspension design, with its link-pushed surprise added to the inside of the front triangle with the top tube and seat stays.

With no turn chips at each end of the shock and rear dropout, Epium ‘Flex Linkage’ suspension device can adapt the ebike’s geometry to suit different terrain or mixed wheel sizes. Plus, it allows Knox to change the Moto motorcycle from 180mm Tour Enduro 7.1 builds to 150mm All-Mountain 5. Nine builds with an easy rear surprise swap.

The powertrain for the eBike is today’s lightest, smallest and most efficient 250W Fazua Ride 60 device with 60Nm of torque in the low bracket and a compact 430Wh battery tucked into the downtube. In-vehicle mobile on and off controls are easy, with an unobtrusive Fazua LED display on the toptube and intelligent Wi-Fi tool connectivity.

Made in Europe

While most bike and ebike builds are currently made in Taiwan and China, this new NOX is completely European.

Developed in Austria, the carbon body is synthesised in Portugal, painted in Germany, then finally assembled and assembled back in Austria. The Fazua ebike tensioner is also made in Germany

Nox Epium – All-mountain or enduro options

The new Nox Epium is available in construction configurations: All-Mountain or Enduro. Epium All-Mountain 5.9 builds combine 150mm of rear wheel travel with 160mm forks and 29″ wheels. Apium Enduro 7.1 builds move forward again with 180mm of travel front and rear, however switch to a mullet wheel setup – 29″ front and 27.5″ rear.

The frames are available in 3 inventory sizes (S-L) with long, low and slack geometry and in 3 different extra-planetary themed colours – Moon Grey, Mars Orange, Jupiter Pink and Purple. Each ebike must have three construction kits per touring option.

Complete eMTB builds start at 8600€ for Core with Shimano Deore 1×10/Marzocchi/Fox, 9200€ with SLX 1×12/Fox Performance and 10,900€ for Ultra XTR/Fox Factory or another 100 euros for Enduro builds.
