Auto Expo Day 1: All the news and revelations
After a three-year hiatus, Auto Expo is back, bringing with it a range of new vehicles from many automakers to the country. The first day of the event was packed with news and reveals and if you want to take a look at what happened on the first day of Auto Expo 2023, read on.
Tata Motors
Tata Harrier EV Concept
Tata Motors surprised many enthusiasts after unveiling the Harrier EV Concept on the first day of Auto Expo 2023.
The Harrier EV shown in near-complete form and expected to launch in 2024. Tata said the Harrier EV will have a two-motor layout and all-wheel drive, but more details are yet to be released.
Tata Sierra EV Concept
The largest domestic one Electric car maker Tata Motors has also unveiled the Sierra EV concept, which is expected to go on sale in 2025. The Sierra EV has five doors, unlike the concept that was on display at Auto Expo 2020, and appeared close to production.
Tata Curvy SUV coupe
Another highlight of the Tata pavilion was the almost production-ready Curvy coupe SUV concept.
Unlike the EV engine previously unveiled in the Curve concept, the Curvy coupe SUV is due out next year and is expected to feature a supercharged petrol engine. To compete with the new Hyundai i20 N-Line, Tataโs Altroz โโโโโโRacer became high-end – Sedan presented at the first car on the day of Expo 2023 with a Tata booth with contrasting black and red accents. A 120 hp Nexon 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 6-speed manual transmission power the Altroz โโโโRacer.
Maruti Suzuki
eVX Concept
The Maruti Suzuki Kicked off at Auto Expo 2023 with the unveiling of the eVX brand’s first all-electric mid-size SUV. The 4.3 m long eVX concept, based on the unique EV architecture, was developed in cooperation with Toyota and features a 60 kWh battery and a range of more than 550 km.
Brezza CNG
Maruti Suzuki has also pulled the blades from the CNG iteration of its hugely popular Brezza compact SUV. The 1.5-liter DualJet K15C engine that powers the Ertiga CNG is also expected to power the Brezza CNG. The SUV is expected to offer the option of an automatic transmission in addition to the manual transmission, making it the first CNG-powered vehicle in India.
Hyundai India
Ioniq 5
South Korean automaker Hyundai has unveiled the much-anticipatedIoniq 5 EV, offering the first 500 buyers a vehicle with a starting price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex show). It has a 217 hp electric motor, a 72.6 kWh battery and an ARAI-certified range of 631 kilometres.
Ioniq 6
The vehicle was also on the circuit of the electric Hyundai Ioniq 6 at the AutoExpo. Based on the company’s E-GMP skateboard deck, it has a drag coefficient of just 0.21 and a curved, aerodynamic design.
The Ioniq 6 is available in twin and single engine configurations, with a choice of two battery sizes – the smaller at 53 kWh and the larger at 77 kWh.
Kia India
EV9 EV Concept SUV
The EV9 concept SUV, the flagship of South Korean automaker Kia, was unveiled at Auto Expo 2023. The all-electric SUV, which is to go into production worldwide by the end of 2023, was presented at an exhibition in the run-up to the new carnival. The EV9 concept will feature the with a 77.4kWh battery, but range and actual performance figures are yet to be officially released by Kia.
KA4 (Fourth Generation Carnival)
Kia also launched the all-new KA4 minivan, popularly known as the Carnival. This fourth-generation luxury MPV has an all-new exterior with an SUV look, dual 12.3-inch screens and interior, ADAS technology and a host of other features. It is likely to be powered by the same 2.2-litre, 201 hp diesel engine that was used in the previous model.
Ambulance Carens
The company also presented the ambulance concept at Auto Expo. The interior of the car has been completely renewed with the elements necessary for an ambulance.

MG India
Hector, Hector Plus
One of the busiest stands at Auto Expo 2023 was that of British car manufacturer MG Motor , where the automaker introduced the facelift SUVs Hector and Hector Plus. The company present at the event began announcing the vehicle prices. The all new Hector will be available from Rs. 14.73 lakh and will rise to Rs.20.80 lakh (old stay). Both SUVs feature a complete redesign, brand new interior and ADAS technologies.
The electric sedan MG 4
MG also presented the all-electric sedan MG 4 at its stand. The MG 4, which is available on international markets, is equipped with two batteries, a smaller one with 51 kWh and a larger one with 64 kWh, both with single engine and rear-wheel drive. It builds on the modular and scalable architecture of the parent company SAIC. In the WLTP cycle, MG states a range of up to 350 km with the smaller battery and 452, km with the larger one.
MG 5 Electric Station Wagon

eMG6-Plug- in as a sedan hybrid
At the Auto Expo 2023, the British car brand also presented a plug-in hybrid sedan. The 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine is paired with an electric motor to combine to produce 305 hp and 480 Nm of maximum torque for the car worldwide.
MG eHS Plug-in Hybrid SUV
The MG eHS Plug-in Hybrid SUV was another model on display at the MG stand would. The EHS has a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 160 hp and 250 Nm of torque. That engine is paired with a 120hp electric motor for a combined power output of 254hp.
MG Marvel R SUV
